Jan 12, 22:00 GMT
Scheduled - At part of our network improvement program, EX Networks will be bringing up a new 10G fibre wave between Global Switch London (2) East (GS2) and Equinix LD8 (LD8).

On Friday 12th January 2018 starting at 22:00 GMT, EXN will be decommissioning a legacy wave between GS2 and DRT Meridian Gate (MER), traffic traversing this path will be gracefully moved to the new wave before the decommissioning. During this time some customers may notice some variations in latency and minor packet loss as OSPF and STP recalculates the new paths.

Location: GS2, MER, LD8
Start: 12/01/2018 - 22:00 GMT (UTC + 0)
End: 13/01/2018 - 01:00 GMT (UTC + 0)
Affected Services: Connectivity Services
Reason: Service Upgrade
Classification: At-risk
Rollback plan: Move traffic back to existing links.

If you have any questions regarding this maintenance, please don't hesitate to contact us via the usual methods.

Scheduled - Following on from our Emergency Maintenance work carried out on 04/01/2018 (http://status.exn.uk/incidents/zy1z67rlx7sf), VMware and Dell have released further patches which affect our VMware environment. In this maintenance window, EXN will be patching the following components:

Dell M630 BIOS
VMware ESX Hypervisor
VMware vCenter / Platform Services Controller

EXN engineers will gracefully migrate all VMs off each ESX host before installing the VMware patch, Dell BIOS update and rebooting the hosts. As each cluster will be running at a lower level of redundancy during each host reboot, this maintenance should be treated as "AT RISK".

After each ESX host is patched, EXN will then patch vCenter and the Platform Services Controller for both VDCs. During this time management functions for your VMs (including vCloud Director) will be unavailable for a short period of time. Once again all VMs will remain powered on and fully functioning during this time.

Location: Global Switch 2, Virtus Enfield
Start: 10/01/2018 - 22:00 GMT (UTC +0)
End: 11/01/2018 - 06:00 GMT (UTC +0)
Affected Services: VMware vDC (Virtual Machines)
Reason: Security Patch - VMSA-2018-0002 (CVE-2017-5753, CVE-2017-5715, and CVE-2017-5754)
Classification: At Risk, Loss of Management Functions
Rollback plan: Remove Patches

Scheduled - Customers may be aware of a severe hardware bug within Intel, AMD & ARM chips that allows an unauthorised process access to privileged memory. Please follow the links at the bottom of this notification for more details about the bug.

As a result EXN will be installing a kernel update on all our cPanel servers starting at 01:00 on 10/01/2018. EXN have previously installed all kernel updates without the need to reboot servers using Kernel Care, unfortunately the Kernel Care team are still working on providing this update without the need to reboot and due to the severity of this bug we have made the decision to install the patch and reboot the servers in a controlled environment. During these reboots your websites and emails will be unavailable.

Location: Not Applicable
Start: 10/01/2018 - 01:00 GMT (UTC +0)
End: 10/01/2018 - 04:00 GMT (UTC +0)
